Books and Music!
Can't get much better than that! Valentine's Day weekend is going to be loaded for us. We already had the Nine Inch Nails concert to go to, but last night we found out that Seether will be in another town in Iowa (opposite direction out of town from the NIN one, of course). And then I realized that the Seether concert is on the same day as a book signing that I'd seen mentioned on Kathleen Bacus' website. Susan Fox is supposed to be there, too, I think. So, booksigning and then music!

That sounds awesome! I saw NIN a long time ago, and it was fun. Loud. Fun.
I like doing things like that on Valentine's rather than the usual dinner and chocolate.
It should be lots of fun. And just weird about all the timing. I've been wanting to go to Des Moines for a book signing, but it's just far enough away that I can't quite justify it if there's nothing else. But this now works out perfect. Booksigning, shopping (it seems to be at a rather large mall with a Cheesecake Factory! never been to one of those. my diet might have to take a break), and music. I might have to drug myself up to be able to handle the concert (as in lots of tylenol, people, smoke makes me sick), but the music should be good.
Nicole, I jumped over from Jill's blog when I saw Iowa on your comment. I was born in Iowa - Des Moines to be exact and have very fond memories of the place (we were last there in 1993) in fact, I still have relatives there. My mother was born way up at Clear Lake. In fact, some of my ancestors were there before statehood. I was just telling someone the other day that one of the things I still miss (we now live in Texas) is the change of seasons. Anyway, just wanted to come by and comment.
Hi Eve, I'm in Cedar Rapids, but I've only lived here a year and a half. Thanks for stopping by!
Jordan Creek looks fun from what I saw on their site. I think my diet may take a hiatus that weekend cuz I really want to check out the Cheesecake Factory. I'm definitely looking forward to going. The only time I've been to Des Moines was when we went to the zoo there, but that doesn't really count as hitting the actual city. I'm a zoo nut, though, I'm sure we'll be going again.
Cedar Rapids - that's in the area where the aforementioned ancestors settled.
Des Moines used to have a great children's zoo, but I've been told it was closed down years ago. I have relatives in West Des Moines who have told me about Jordan Creek - it sounds great. Jordan was the family name (I think the house is still there) of members of the underground railroad that lived in West Des Moines. Interesting that they used that name. Sorry, my Iowa pride is showing through. I'll shut up now *g*
